Candlemass is a Swedish Epic Doom band. The group originated in the mid-80s and shaped the music genre immensely. The first four albums of Black Sabbath are considered classic Doom Metal. In the 80s Candlemass set new accents with the debut album Epicus Doomicus Metallicus. Perhaps the name of the album also refers to the name of the genre, but there are also other explanations.

It's not surprising

It's not surprising that a Swedish band works more closely with a Swedish gambling company than it would have been the case with an American band.

Play'n GO had invited Candlemass for a better collaboration. The developers should get a feel for the band and the music. The band ultimately composed the soundtrack extra for the slot and let the team of Play'n GO participate in the recording. Thus, the development of the slot machine could give a much better understanding of the actual topic. The creators see it as the strength of the slot and believe that by fine-tuning music, animation and theme, the slot machine offers some advantages over other brand-licensed games.

It has really been an incredible journey. This creates the creativity and entertainment value that we believe makes good collaboration possible.

Of course, working with brand licenses for Play'n GO is not new. It has already created several Hugo slot machines and was proud of the slots of the Scandinavian TV goblin. Nevertheless, they wanted to create a little more here. They wanted significantly more artistic freedom, but also a greater sympathy of the band.

What does the band say about the collaboration?

Leif Edling is songwriter and bassist of Candlemass and was a bit hesitant at first. Ultimately, as a metal band, you can not be creative with a gaming company. The fact that most of his fans have received it very positively has surprised him once more. Meanwhile, he himself believes that the collaboration was a good idea. For him, the interest was mainly in trying out new marketing ways. Edling meant only: I am very interested in promoting things. We are no longer in the 70s or 80s and the record companies have no money for marketing. I look at it from this point of view.

Will there be license slots in the near future?

The managing director became very monosyllabic when asked about further co-productions with bands. Basically you could imagine something like that again for sure, but then the chemistry has to be right between band and company: If you have a great band with great music who really wants to work together then you have the magic!

He thinks you do not necessarily have to work with the hottest music groups. It does not depend on the hits, as the magic in the collaboration of the people creates the game.
